Site-IMT
AtheroPoint™’s cIMT is the IMT measured all along the common carotid artery. This product is called AtheroEdge™, which is 510 (K) FDA cleared. IMT must be measured with respect to the reference point along the common carotid artery. This research presents an automated detection of the bulb edge as a reference point. IMT measurement from the reference point (bulb edge) is called sIMT or site IMT. The IMT in the bulb region is called bIMT. This software is automatically able to compute all three IMTs: cIMT, sIMT, bIMT. Further, this research computes automatically the contribution of plaque thickness of bIMT w.r.t to cIMT. This novel research is the only automated software which estimates all three IMT’s in a segmental or zonal. sIMT further estimates the IMT within 1 cm from the bulb edge, IMT between the segment from 1 cm to 2 cm from the blub edge and segmental IMT between 2 cm and 3 cm from the bulb edge depending upon the CCA image acquired and the field of view.
