Symptoms of Atherosclerosis
Due to the gradual progression of this condition, there are usually no warning signs for mild ASVD. The following symptoms will be manifested in moderate and severe cases:
- Angina (Chest Pain, Chest Pressure)
- Leg pain
- Sudden numbness or weakness in arms or legs
- Impaired speech/vision/coordination
- Shortness of breath
- Unconsciousness
- Kidney failure
- Gangrene
Causes of Atherosclerosis
Though the exact cause for this disease is unidentified, these risk factors which could damage the artery leading to ASVD:
- High blood pressure
- High blood cholesterol
- Diabetes
- Insulin Resistance
- Obesity
- Smoking
- Excessive alcohol intake
- Unhealthy diet
- Physical Inactivity
- Family history of heart diseases
- Aging
